Founders with a mission: the story behind Salvia BioElectronics
.jpg)
Salvia was founded on March 3, 2017 by Hubert Martens, Daniel Schobben and Wim Pollet. Starting with nothing more than innovative ideas and a blank whiteboard, the three founders brought together deep experience in medical technology and neuromodulation to design a therapy that truly meets the needs of people with chronic migraine.
From the beginning, they worked closely with medical professionals and patients to understand the real challenges in migraine treatment. Step by step, they built a team, defined the first shapes and functions of what would become MySalvia Therapy, and laid the foundation for a company committed to transforming migraine care.
Salvia was born from a strong personal drive combined with a clear and urgent medical need. Chronic migraine is not ‘just a headache’. It is a debilitating neurological condition that forces people out of their social life, their work, and the life they want to live. Salvia's mission is to restore their freedom. MySalvia Therapy is designed to provide not just relief, but meaningful and lasting impact.
Salvia is driven by the belief that people with chronic migraine deserve the opportunity to reclaim their lives
And it all started with three founders who believed that neuromodulation should not be a last-resort option, but a fully integrated part of migraine care. Let's get to know them:
Hubert Martens – CEO & founder
Hubert Martens is a visionary MedTech entrepreneur with a track record of building breakthrough medical device companies that redefine patient care. He has played a leading role in shaping the field of neuromodulation, combining deep technical expertise with a relentless focus on clinical impact. As founder and the driving force behind companies like Sapiens Steering Brain Stimulation (acquired by Medtronic), Sirius Medical, and Salvia BioElectronics, Hubert has built and led teams advancing transformative technologies from concept toward clinical and commercial reality. He draws on a strong foundation in science and engineering, holding a PhD in Physics from Leiden University.
Daniel Schobben – COO & founder
Daniel Schobben is one of the founders of Salvia BioElectronics and is passionately committed to restoring hope, health, and happiness for people with chronic migraine and chronic cluster headache. At Salvia, he drives innovation by translating stakeholder needs to pragmatic product concepts. Prior to founding Salvia, he has taken on roles in product management, M&A due diligence, innovation management, and interim leadership. He has coordinated venture portfolios and founded, chaired, and advised companies, with a particular focus on medical devices over the past decade. He started his career at Philips, where over 200 patents were filed based on his work. Daniel holds MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology.
Wim Pollet – Chief Medical Officer & founder
Dr. Wim Pollet brings over 20 years of international medical leadership across pharma, vaccines, and medical devices, including roles at Medtronic, Abbott, and St. Jude Medical. At Salvia, he champions therapy development and treatment excellence. Wim consistently challenges the status quo with a strong commitment to patients. He is a passionate medical doctor who puts patients first and is driven to turn science into real, lasting impact.

Page Title (H1)
Header (H2)
A subheading or chapter heading (H3)
Introductory text or a first paragraph of information on this subject. Write as naturally as possible and be nice and specific. If necessary, use AI software to help you get started, but definitely don't use it one-on-one. Search engines can penalize AI content.
Subheading (H4)
Here too there is more than enough room for a good story, an interesting article or background information. If necessary, use a summary:
- a summary is clear
- one can see the benefits or features at a glance
- also use search terms if necessary
Another topic (H3)
Another subheading (H4)
Do not use a Title Header (H1), but use an H2 Header instead. An H1 is actually a title of the page and may only appear once on a web page. The H2 is a kind of chapter and the other headers (H3 to H6) are subheadings and subheadings within the chapter. The order is important for the readability of visitors and search engines.
- a summary is clear
- one can see the benefits or features at a glance
- also use search terms if necessary
This way everything remains easy to read and understandable for the reader. People can also scroll directly to the topic they are interested in.
Paragraph heading style (H5)
This is another example of a heading. The headings H5 and H6 are usually used as paragraph headings, each with their own style.
Paragraph heading style (H6)
In the editor you can really see a difference in font size of all headers, but on the live website they have their own style.
Other options
Use a "quote". That looks like this:
This is a quote!
You can also put texts in bold, italic, etc.
Of maak een link naar een andere pagina of website.
And finally, you can also create Superscript(1) and Subscript(2) text.
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Suspendisse varius enim in eros elementum tristique. Duis cursus, mi quis viverra ornare, eros dolor interdum nulla, ut commodo diam libero vitae erat. Aenean faucibus nibh et justo cursus id rutrum lorem imperdiet. Nunc ut sem vitae risus tristique posuere.
