Director R&D
Salvia BioElectronics is a medical device company pioneering neuromodulation therapies for migraine. Salvia's unique, paper-thin implant is designed to reduce the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks by delivering gentle electrical pulses to the nerves associated with the condition. The company is currently in the clinical stage of development. In addition, Salvia is considering potential opportunities the device creates for the treatment of cluster headache and other neurological disorders. Salvia has received the Breakthrough Device Designation from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which facilitates expedited market access for devices that treat life-threatening or irreversibly debilitating conditions.
We offer a challenging new position for a Director R&D. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, and leadership abilities to grow and guide a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and project managers. You report to the VP Product Development. As part of Salvia’s Leadership Team, you help shape the company’s strategic agenda and translate business ambitions into tangible goals and R&D objectives.
- Team Leadership and Development: Managing, growing and developing the R&D team (engineers, scientists and project managers), fostering a culture of excellence, and ensuring that team members are aligned with the company’s objectives.
- Oversee the design, development and testing processes, ensuring that objectives are met.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating with other departments like Clinical, Operations, Quality, Human Resources, Marketing and finance to ensure alignment of operational activities with broader organizational goals.
- You implement the overall Objectives and Key Results to R&D Objectives and results.
- Anticipate and define growth, ensuring required skills and resources as well as efficient tools and methods are available to support Salvia’s roadmap.
- Establish lean culture and inspire continuous improvements (5S, comm cell, VSM, etc.) and performance management including dashboards and metrics.
- Higher Education degree in a relevant (technical) discipline.
- 10+ years working experience in neurostimulation or related complex medical device R&D.
- Rigorous, efficient, proven work methodology (roadmap, risk analysis, prioritization, analysis of needs in resources, anticipation of recruitment needs / expansion of competencies).
- Recognized people manager with proven experience in managing a multi-functional R&D team in a comparable med-tech environment.
- Ability to lead across all levels and team coaching capabilities.
- Strong communication skills on all levels in the organization and towards external partners and suppliers (fluent in English)
